British Air Force Typhoon FGR4s have operated alongside French aircraft in a combined operation on an underground arms cache in Syrian territory employed by the IS group, as stated by the British defence ministry.
The location, located using intelligence, was believed to be storing arms and explosives, the statement said, and was positioned in hills just above Palmyra in central Syria.
"Our aircraft employed laser-guided Paveway IV weapons to target a number of approach shafts providing entry to the depot... initial indications suggest the objective was successfully hit," the MoD said.
There was no indication of any harm to civilians in the operation late on Saturday and every plane involved made a safe return, the defence officials confirmed.
The British jets were supported by a Voyager tanker plane.
Daesh - also known as Daesh - established militant control over parts of Syria and Iraq before its territorial defeat in 2019.
"This action demonstrates our UK leadership, and determination to work closely with our partners, to eliminate any revival of the terrorist group and their dangerous and violent ideologies in the area," Britain's Defence Chief the Defence Secretary said.
RAF aircraft have conducted patrols over Syrian airspace to "prevent any efforts to regroup" of the group following its defeat at the Baghuz confrontation in 2019, the authorities noted.
"I must thank every member of British forces who took part in this mission for their skill and their courage," the Defence Secretary added. "They were among numerous British personnel on duty over the festive period. This action, to remove dangerous terrorists who pose a risk to our security, shows how UK forces are prepared to act, throughout the year, keeping Britain secure domestically and powerful internationally."

The United Nations estimates Daesh still maintains between 5,000 and 7,000 fighters in both countries.
